We are thrilled to announce our biggest expansion yet. Starting today, Lumen Pay officially supports local currency processing and settlement in five new African markets: Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, and Cote d'Ivoire.
Why This Matters
Previously, merchants in these regions often had to settle in USD or EUR, incurring high foreign exchange (FX) fees and dealing with volatile exchange rates. With this update, you can charge customers in their local currency and get paid in that same currency.
Supported Currencies & Methods
- Kenya (KES): Full support for M-Pesa and Airtel Money.
- Ghana (GHS): MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash, and AirtelTigo.
- South Africa (ZAR): EFT Secure, Ozow, and local card processing.
- Tanzania (TZS): M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, and Airtel Money.
- Cote d'Ivoire (XOF): Orange Money, MTN MoMo, and Wave.
Instant Settlement
One of the biggest pain points for African businesses is liquidity. We have partnered with local aggregators to offer T+0 (same day) or T+1 settlement for these new markets, ensuring you have access to your funds when you need them.
How to Enable
If you are an existing merchant, simply go to your Dashboard > Settings > Currencies and toggle the new currencies you wish to accept. No code changes are required if you are using our standard checkout.
